Visual World-Building for Podcast Cover Art

Tell-Tale Tabletop is a podcast centered around conversations about Dungeons & Dragons and immersive fantasy storytelling. The client commissioned a custom cover illustration that visually captures the magic, whimsy, and narrative depth of classic tabletop adventures. The goal was to create a cover that instantly communicates “story-driven fantasy” through a fairytale aesthetic, dynamic imagery, and atmospheric visual effects.

Worked directly with the client to identify core thematic elements: a whimsical fairytale realm, dragons, a medieval castle, magical energy, and an open book acting as a portal.

Generated multiple AI-assisted concepts to explore composition, mood, and visual style.

Selected and composited various AI-generated assets in Adobe Photoshop, blending them into a cohesive illustrated scene.

Enhanced the fantasy atmosphere using lighting effects, fog, particle dust, and color grading.

Integrated a medieval-inspired typeface to reinforce genre and tone while ensuring legibility across podcast platforms.

Performed final retouching, contrast balancing, and layout adjustments for optimized display across digital formats.

The final artwork features an open book revealing a lush fairytale world framed by natural vines, with a castle, dragons, and glowing magical dust emerging from the pages. The design visually bridges storytelling and fantasy adventure—core themes of the podcast—creating a dramatic and engaging first impression.
The client received a fully realized podcast cover that successfully aligned with his vision and narrative goals. The artwork enhanced the podcast’s branding, improved visual professionalism, and established a distinctive identity across streaming platforms.
